Why is getting ongoing treatment important if you have a problem with alcohol or drugs?
It is important to continue to get treatment if you have a problem with or dependence on alcohol or drugs. You are more likely to stop misusing alcohol or drugs if you start treatment services as soon as possible and complete the care.
How should doctors treat alcohol and drug dependence?
If you are diagnosed with a substance use disorder, your doctor can help you get continued treatment services after the initial visit. By getting continued care, it is more likely that you will be able to successfully stop using alcohol or drugs.
What do the stars mean?
The scores show how well each health plan did at making sure teen or adult patients 13 years of age or older, who have a substance use disorder diagnosis, had their first treatment within two weeks of diagnosis and had at least two follow-up treatment services within 30 days of their first treatment. A higher score means more patients got the right care at the right time.
The scores are based on information from at least 30 health plan member administrative records in 2022.
